Suminagashi is a Japanese form of marbling that involves dropping ink onto water to create patterns. The patterns often resemble patterns in nature such as tree rings. We will experiment with mixing inks to create our own colors and double printing to create more intricate designs. Orizome is the art of folding paper and dipping it in ink to form patterns on the paper. This is a good companion project to do as both these paper crafts can use the same ink and paper.
