Shadow Box and Cord Journal From Graphic 45 Saturday, February 10 • 9:30 - 3:30 • $65
P.S. I Love You is a new collection from Graphic 45 that celebrates love! The sentiments are perfect for creating an anniversary album, a card for a wedding or Valentine’s Day, or just to show your loved one how much they mean to you. You’ll learn how to make a shadow box using chipboard sheets and basic folding techniques. It’s the perfect place to store your cord journal. A cord journal holds the sections in place on the cover with cords or elastic; there is no sewing involved. This type of attachment let you add or subtract pages easily. You’ll also decorate the journal cover and the wrappers of the three sections. These wrappers have pockets for storing additional ephemera. There is a lot of paper cutting involved so if you have a favorite cutting devise bring it along to class.
Lark’s Head Binding Saturday, March 9 • 9:30 - 3:30 • $55
Sometimes you have single sheets of paper that you want to bind into a book. The Lark’s Head or Slip-Knot Binding is perfect for this purpose. The pages open completely as opposed to something like the Japanese binding. We will use a Gelli plate to quickly create some light backgrounds on our paper then cut the large sheets down to 4” x 6”, wrap the spine edge and punch holes. Finally we will assemble the pages and sew them together with the Lark’s Head stitch. You can then write on or collage on or further decorate the pages on your own.
