The stitch used to sew this book together is called the French Link stitch. It is a non-supported sewing––there are no tapes or cords. The covers are sewn onto the text block. The book incorporates many contemporary ideas about binding--no square, that is, the boards are cut even with the text block, and there is little glue on the spine resulting in a book that opens flat. This book uses a spine cover based on the work of Gary Frost, a contemporary book conservator. It is a good book for beginners.
